Organ Student Scheme

Organ Student Scheme (OSS)

In 2014, we introduced our Organ Student Scheme, in an attempt to alleviate the recognised shortage of organists available to play regularly in church services in our area. The scheme provides six free-of-charge lessons to pianists or keyboard players, to enable them to 'try' the organ before continuing lessons - either with support from a church, or from their own funds, or from other grants. Since the scheme was introduced, several churches now have their own organists, or use SOA students within a rota of other players. There's no age limit - previous students include teenagers to retirees - although we do ask for a reasonable level of keyboard experience (typically ABRSM G5).
