Our Programme of Events for 2018...
Saturday 10th at 11am
AGM & Annual Recital St John’s School, Leatherhead
The new SOA year begins with a short AGM, followed by a recital at 12.30pm by our President and international recitalist Tom Bell. A light lunch follows the recital. No charge for SOA members & students, but there will be a retiring collection at the end of the recital to cover costs and to boost funds for our Organ Student Scheme.
Saturday 3rd; 9.30am – 5pm
London Organ Day Notre Dame de France – WC2H 7BX
The London Organ Day turns its focus to 19th & 20thcentury French music and improvisations - www.londonorganday.co.uk
Monday 9th at 5pm
Godalming Parish Church St Peter & St Paul (Godalming Parish Church)
Perform in the organ classes at the Godalming Festival (or come and listen). Call 01483 414858 or see the website www.godalmingmusicfestival.org.uk for more information.

How to play ‘difficult’ Hymns St John’s Church, Woking GU21 7QN
SOA member Alan Rapley leads a workshop on hymns that some might chose to avoid, or at least avoid playing all the notes (eg Michael; Guiting Power,etc). Suitable for all levels of player and experience.
Saturday 19th All day
Visit to Sussex Lancing College & other venues
A chance to play the Walker & Frobenius organs at Lancing, and visit nearby churches.
Saturday 23rd All Day
Play on different 3 manual organs (Various locations)
A further workshop, aimed particularly at our current and recent Organ Students - a chance to play the same piece on several different 3 manual organs and consoles in one day!

Improve your technique St John’s School, Leatherhead
Following last year’s workshop on articulation,Tom Bell now leads a session on legato playing on the Tickell organ at St John’s School Chapel. Suitable for all levels of player and experience.
Saturday 22nd at 5pm
Members' Recital & Dinner St Andrew's Church, Oxshott
Students as well as experienced members will be welcome to play to a sympathetic audience.
Relax afterwards with dinner in a nearby restaurant.
Saturday 13th; 1.30-4.30pm
Play the organ; Develop your skills – Joint SOA/RCO Event Cranleigh School
An afternoon for pianists wishing to try the organ, and find out more about the SOA Organ Student Scheme. There will also be an opportunity for current/recent organ students to learn about the RCO’s graded certificate scheme from their Regional Director, Simon Williams.

The organ music of Buxtehude St Thomas-on-The-Bourne
Following on from the 2017 session on Spanish organ music, Julian Cooper directs a Masterclass on the organ music of Dietrich Buxtehude. Participants are invited to present a specific piece from Buxtehude’s wide range of compositions, and receive helpful feedback. Observers also welcome.
